The family and friends of the late Una Cunningham held their 3rd Golf Classic in her memory at Concra Golf Club last May and raised a staggering €11,750. Believe it or not I hear in the grapevine that Owen and his amazing organising committee are planning the next one to take place in May 2014.

Castleblayney Cancer Society would like to take this opportunity to express their gratitude to Owen and the committee who organise Una’s Memorial Golf Classic. The Society would not be able to continue the great work that they do, without the generousity , energy and commitment of groups like this committee. A big thank you to all involved especially the sponsors, teams and players who participated and all who turned up to support this very worthy and enjoyable event. There is a considerable demand on funds at present and in these hard times when people are hard pressed for cash it is wonderful to receive such a large contribution. At present the society is spending on average €8,000 per month with around 25 people availing of this service at the moment.

The funds raised are used for:
1.Travel expenses to and from hospital for treatment
2.Home support and Home Care Assistance
3. Night Nursing
4. Equipment not provided by the HSE
5. Funding in the event of loss of income as a result of cancer

Applications for assistance can be made through the family Doctor, Public Health Nurse or any committee member.

Once again Castleblayney Cancer society would like to thank the family and friends of the late Una for their support in the past as well as on this occasion and wish them continued success in their future efforts.
